HOW MUCH TIME IT WILL TAKE YOU:

The following visit is planned to be done in a day. The train to Bern is only about an hour and then you can spend the whole day wandering around the capital of Switzerland!

WHAT IT IS:

Once you’re in Bern, we have 2 different itineraries for you.

City Tour: Duration: ~2-3hours.
If you’re interested in discovering the city of Bern, we have this Google itinerary for you, that will take you to all the essentials in town. The tour will take you around 2 to 3 hours to do. For us the must-seen are the viewpoint behind the Federal Palace and the bears at the bear pit! By the end of the day, you can admire the sunset in the rose garden while drinking a beer you can buy at the restaurant there! In case you want to include a museum in your tour, there are some real nice ones in Bern. You could try the Swiss Alpine Museum, Museum of Communication or the Einstein House for instance.

Hike along the river: Duration: ~4-5hours. Elevation: 300m up, 300m down.
If you’re more like a nature person or if you want to have a full packed day of fun, we also have a nice walk along the famous Aare river (river that crosses Bern) that you can do. You’ll be able to get to the outskirts of Bern and walk in a calm and peaceful environment before coming back to the city center. Here is the itinerary for the hike. If the weather is warm enough, you can also have a swim in the Aare river! That is something a lot of locals are doing in summer time as you might notice if you go there at this time!
