Accommodation

We know that finding an accommodation here in Lausanne is not
an easy task but do not lose hope! It takes time, surely, but in end
everything will be fine. For more information, do not hesitate to
consult this website made available for EPFL students looking for
housing, where you can find accomodations offers.

Look at residences:
First of all, here are the links to the main students hall in Lausanne:

FMEL – Fondation maisons pour Étudiants Lausanne, Silo Bleu, Students Place 4U, Crissier, Student Village, Camp’us, Les Estudiantines, Eglise Anglaise, FSLE – Fondations Solidarité Logement pour Etudiants, Planète bleue, Le cazard, Bon accueil (for women), Pension Bienvenue (for women), Le CUC – Centre Universitaire Catholique.

However, it can be quite tricky to get a room. If you don’t get a
room right away, you can try to call the offices directly to ask for
one. They are usually more prone to give you one if you ask for it
this way.

Join Facebook groups:
Be sure to join the groups :

Lausanne à louer - bouche à oreille, Colocation Lausanne | La Carte des Colocs and LAUSANNE Rent a House, Villa, Apartment, Flat, Condo, Room, Bedspace.

You need to be really reactive to have a chance to get a room on
these platforms but most of the student offers are published here
so it’s worth trying. Offers on the groups are mostly offers for a
room in.

Ask for help:
If you have trouble finding accommodation, you can always contact
the SAE (Service aux étudiants) or the International Exchanges
Office at student.services@epfl.ch. They can provide further advice
and other options.

Just before your arrival, make sure that someone (you or a buddy)
will be able to pick up the apartment's keys on time. Depending on
your time of arrival, the residence's caretaker or the rental company
office can be closed. Regarding FMEL accommodation, it is
important to contact the residence's caretaker well ahead of your
arrival and arrange a meeting.

Good luck and see you soon!

Your ESN family
